Partnership with St. Louis Women's Chorale Announced
Maryville University has announced an artistic agreement with the St. Louis Women's Chorale that establishes a unique community collaboration and creates outreach opportunities for both partners.
The St. Louis Women's Chorale will serve as ensemble-in-residence at Maryville University, while retaining its independent, not-for-profit status. Maryville will provide rehearsal and performance space. In addition, the University Library will house and catalog the Chorale's comprehensive collection of musical arrangements, some of which are commissioned works.
Academic credit will be offered to students who become members of the Chorale after successfully completing an audition process. The choral group will perform during designated Maryville events either as a whole or in smaller ensembles.
"Maryville University has always had a sterling reputation for fostering the arts and culture here in St. Louis and for the past 15 years, the St. Louis Women's Chorale has been part of the fabric of the community," said Kathy Lawton Brown, interim artistic director. "The collaboration between these two institutions will add a wonderful dimension and a unique, harmonious voice in the St. Louis community."
The agreement between Maryville University and St. Louis Women's Chorale is effective immediately.
"We're pleased to welcome the St. Louis Women's Chorale to the Maryville community," said Tom Eschen, vice president of institutional advancement. "Collaborations with outstanding St. Louis organizations always make Maryville stronger - we anticipate great success in this pursuit, as well. We look forward to enriching our campus culture and community outreach through this exciting affiliation.
